Planet Earth II is a compelling BBC nature series narrated by David Attenborough. The first nature documentary to be filmed in high definition, it covers beautiful scenery and incredible encounters across the world – with the main theme music composed by Hans Zimmer, no less. Iconic habitats and the various ways animals survive in them are the focus of this documentary. The wildlife is spellbinding, the environments and landscapes are gorgeous, and the many featured encounters are exciting.
Planet Earth II also covers one particular habitat that no other nature documentary has tackled: the cities. Taking the perspective of the animals as well as wild foliage that finds its way in, the series shows just how resourceful and persistent life can be. It also displays how innovative and adaptive the ecological matrix is, no matter the obstacle.
The series is a sequel to Planet Earth (2006).
